Acceptance of the terms
These terms apply when you use myceliabirth.com, including its pages, blog, shop, forms and emails, and the client portal (together, “the site”). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
They sit alongside my Privacy Policy, which explains what information I collect and how I handle it, and the Shop Terms, which cover digital purchases.
About Mycelia Birth Co.
Mycelia Birth Co. is a sole proprietorship based in Pennsylvania, United States, and I run it on my own. “I”, “me” and “my” in these terms mean me and Mycelia Birth Co. “You” means you, the person using the site.
I provide doula support, education, non-clinical lactation and infant-feeding education, resources, and related products and services.
Educational and informational content
The articles, guides, workbooks, newsletters and other material on the site are for general education and information. They are written to help you understand your options, prepare questions and feel more supported.
They are general rather than written for your situation, and research and recommendations change over time. I work to keep everything accurate and evidence-informed, but I can’t promise that every page is complete, current or right for you.
Not medical advice
Doula support and education from Mycelia Birth Co. are non-clinical. Nothing on the site, in my emails or in my products is medical advice, and I don’t diagnose, treat or prescribe.
Doula support and education work alongside your medical care; they don’t replace it. For questions about your health, your pregnancy, or your baby’s health or feeding, please talk with a licensed healthcare professional, such as your midwife, physician or your baby’s pediatric provider.
In an emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) or go to the nearest emergency department. Please don’t wait for a reply from me.
No automatic client relationship
Reading the site, subscribing to the newsletter, buying from the shop, sending the contact form, messaging me, or booking or having a free Introductory Call doesn’t make you my client or create a professional relationship between us.
That relationship begins when we have both signed a written service agreement for a specific service.
Services and agreements
Each service I provide is covered by its own written documents. Depending on the service, these can include a service agreement, informed consent and acknowledgment forms, payment and cancellation terms, intake forms and related policies.
Service descriptions and prices on the site are a general guide, and they can change. The documents you sign set out what applies to your support. If anything in these website terms conflicts with a signed agreement, the signed agreement governs for that service.
Website accounts and the client portal
If you become a client, I may invite you to the client portal at portal.myceliabirth.com, where your appointments, documents, messages and invoices are kept. You sign in with your email address and a one-time code sent to that address; there is no password. (There is more about using it on the client portal help page.)
When you use the portal, please:
- use it lawfully, and only for your own support and records;
- keep your email account secure, and don’t share your sign-in codes with anyone;
- tell me promptly if you think someone else has got into your portal or your email.
I may pause or end portal access, for example when our work together ends or to protect the security of your records. How your records are kept is explained in the Privacy Policy.
Keeping information safe. I use reasonable safeguards to protect the site, the portal and your information, but no website, email or online system can be made completely secure. Please don’t send anything urgent through a message or the contact form, and avoid sending highly sensitive details such as ID or card numbers that I haven’t asked for. If I learn that your information has been exposed, I’ll tell you promptly, explain what happened, and share what I’m doing about it.
Payments, cancellations, and refunds
There is no single payment, cancellation or refund policy for everything I offer. For a service, the price, what is due and when, and what happens if either of us needs to cancel are shared before you commit and set out in your service agreement.
Card payments for invoices and the shop are processed by Stripe; I never see or store your full card number. Shop purchases are covered by the Shop Terms, which you can read before you buy.
Digital products and downloads
Guides, workbooks and other downloads from the shop are for your personal use. You may use them for yourself and your household, and print as many copies as you need for yourself and your support people.
Please don’t share, resell, post or otherwise redistribute the files, and please don’t remove or change the Mycelia Birth Co. name, branding or copyright notices in them.
Delivery, download links and refunds are covered by the Shop Terms. In short: if you’re not happy with a purchase, write to me within 14 days for a full refund.
Intellectual property
Unless a page says otherwise, the writing, guides, workbooks, photographs, illustrations, logos and other content on the site belong to me or are used with permission.
You’re welcome to read, print and share links to pages for your own personal, non-commercial use, and to quote a short passage with credit and a link back. Please don’t copy, republish, sell or adapt my content, or use the Mycelia Birth Co. name or logos, without my written permission.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- use the site for anything unlawful, harmful or fraudulent;
- try to get into parts of the site, the portal or anyone’s records that aren’t yours;
- interfere with the site’s security or operation, or try to overload it;
- send spam, harmful code or automated submissions through its forms;
- impersonate someone else, or harass or threaten anyone through the site;
- copy or scrape the site in bulk.
I may block access, or decline or remove submissions, that break these terms.
Third-party services and links
The site uses, embeds or links to services run by other companies:
- Google: the Introductory Call booking page (a Google Calendar appointment page, also shown on the contact page), and my business email, calendar and phone.
- Stripe: shop checkout and invoice payments.
- Resend: delivery of the emails the site sends.
- Cloudflare: hosting, portal sign-in, and the spam check on the contact form (Turnstile).
- Instagram, Facebook and my Google Business Profile: my social media and business listing.
- Other websites linked from blog posts and resource lists.
Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them. I don’t control them and am not responsible for their content, availability or practices. A link to another website is offered as a resource, not as an endorsement of everything on it.
Testimonials and results
If I share client stories or feedback on the site, they are shared with permission and describe one family’s experience. Every pregnancy, birth, postpartum period and feeding journey is different, and I can’t promise any particular outcome or result from my support, classes or products.
Website availability and accuracy
I work to keep the site accurate, available and secure, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. Pages may occasionally be unavailable, contain mistakes or fall out of date. I may change, pause or remove any part of the site, including services, prices and products, at any time. Services marked “Launching Soon” or “Coming Soon” can’t be booked yet.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, I am not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or its free content, or from relying on general information on it instead of advice from a qualified professional. The same applies, where I have taken reasonable care, to events outside my reasonable control, such as an outage or a security incident at a service provider.
For a shop purchase, my total liability is limited to the amount you paid for it, to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that the law does not allow to be limited, and nothing here changes a signed service agreement.
Indemnification
If you misuse the site or break these terms and that leads to a claim against me, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent permitted by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States. If a disagreement can’t be settled by talking it through, which is always my first choice, it will be handled by the courts that have jurisdiction in Pennsylvania, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
Changes to the terms
I may update these terms as the site and my services change. When I do, I’ll change the date at the top of this page, and I’ll say plainly if a change is significant. Using the site after an update means you accept the updated terms. An update never changes a service agreement you have already signed.
Contact
Questions about these terms, or anything else: email contact@myceliabirth.com or call or text (215) 703-8547. A real person answers — me.
