Why “Mycelia”?
A mycelial network runs quietly underground, connecting trees and passing nutrients throughout the forest so the whole ecosystem can grow and thrive together.
We named this practice after it because that’s the kind of support we believe families deserve — grounded, connected, and dependable — support that feels safe, reassuring, and easy to lean on.
Pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenthood were never meant to be navigated in isolation. Just as a forest is strengthened by the network beneath it, families flourish when they are surrounded by steady support, trusted information, and meaningful connection.
Mycelia Birth Co. exists to be one part of that network — helping you feel supported, informed, and held as your family grows.
The values behind our care
Select any point in the network to see what that value actually looks like in practice, not just what it says on paper.
-
We stay current with research and professional guidelines, and we'll always tell you plainly when something is preference rather than fact — no folklore, no fear-based advice.
-
Our job is to make sure you have real information, in plain language, early enough to actually use it — not to hand you a decision already made.
-
You are the expert on your body and your baby. We bring information and steady hands; you make the decisions, every time.
-
Every feeding method, birth setting, and family shape is welcome here. Our care doesn't change based on your choices.
-
We move at your pace, explain before we act, and stay attentive to what feels safe for you — care that respects what you've already been through.
-
We work alongside your midwife, OB, or pediatric team — never in place of them. Support layers on top of your existing care, it doesn't compete with it.
-
Your time, your home, and your decisions are treated as exactly that — yours. Rest is part of recovery, not a luxury, and we show up prepared and listen before we advise.
-
No one thrives alone. Part of our work is helping you find and lean on the wider network of people who can support your family, not just us.
-
Every family belongs here, regardless of relationship structure, gender, feeding choice, or background. Our care is the same for every family: warm and without judgment.
Mady
Before Mycelia Birth Co. became a business, it started with a feeling I kept coming back to while working with families: No one should have to navigate pregnancy, birth, or the early days of parenthood without steady, meaningful support.
I’ve spent close to a decade working in healthcare, including pediatrics, NICU/PICU, and emergency care. I’ve been alongside families during some of their most vulnerable moments, and I’ve seen how much it matters to have someone who takes the time to listen, explain, reassure, and simply stay present.
As a mother myself, I also know that some of the moments when you need support most happen outside of appointments and hospital rooms. Sometimes you need information. Sometimes you need another set of hands. Sometimes you just need someone beside you who can help you sort through your options, remind you that your voice matters, and make things feel a little less overwhelming.
That’s the kind of care I want Mycelia Birth Co. to offer.
My approach is warm, nonjudgmental, evidence-based, and centered around you and your family. I’m here to offer information, practical support, and a steady presence — never to take over or tell you there’s one “right” way to birth, feed, recover, or parent.
More than anything, I want you to feel heard, respected, informed, and genuinely supported through whatever season you’re in.
These first quiet moments matter
Whatever your season looks like — the last weeks of pregnancy, active labor, or those first sleepy days home with a newborn — my goal is the same: to help you feel steady, cared for, and fully present for it.
